Ms. Sampson

I'm Megan Sampson (Ms. Sampson) and I have been the adviser of The Cardinal News for about five years now. I am also an English teacher here at East--I teach AP Lang, AP Research, and sometimes Advanced English 10. When I'm not lesson planning, teaching, grading, or working on The Cardinal News, I am most likely reading, writing, listening to music, painting, or doing yoga. I also love going out to eat with my husband and friends, I enjoy snuggling my kitties, and I find enjoyment in decorating my house with indoor plants.

In the past she has won an award for her writing through WauwatosaNow as well as been editor-in-chief of satire magazine The Radish. It’s apropos that the ferociously opinionated Sofia is currently editing the Opinions page. Her hobbies include procrastinating, speculating about unlikely animal friendships, and using big words to sound wittier than she really is.

Ms. Salerno

Hello! My name is Erin Salerno (but my advisory kiddos call me Cilantro). I’ve been teaching at East for 3 years, and this is my second as assistant advisor for the Cardinal News. You can usually find me in my classroom teaching English 10, Creative Writing, and Oral Communications during the school day. I’m the proud mother of a beautiful 3 year old with another on the way in April. I love to read (just about anything), binge Netflix, and spend time with my wonderful family. We don’t have any pets, but my husband is working getting me to agree to a Teacup Pig.
